The afternoon sun hit the couch. Thousands of tiny hairs lit up across the fabric — invisible a moment ago, now impossible to ignore.

I'd just finished vacuuming. Forty-five minutes. The dog hid behind the TV cabinet the entire time because the noise terrifies him. And somehow, after all that effort, the couch was still covered.

That thought wouldn't leave me alone.

So I tried everything. Lint rollers that ran out after two swipes and cost me $20 a month. A $600 vacuum that was louder, heavier, and still didn't get the embedded hair out.
